Porcelains and Whitewares

These bodies are all made entirely from refined industrial minerals that we import. They are made using a batching process (compared to the continuous process for our native bodies). They are thus more expensive to make. They are also whiter than anything we can make with native materials. However they do not have the dry strength, working properties, and consistency of our native stonewares either. Since we do not control the quality of the materials in these bodies we test truckloads as they arrive and adjust body recipes to compensate if necessary. We use batch recipes that employ 2 or 3 of each material type to minimize impact on body properties if one material changes.
